Our shopping list for the weekend:
- Scrapbook paper
- Unfinished birdhouses
- New acrylic paint colors
- Fabric
- Ribbon
- Yarn
- Rummage through boxes of old picture frames that haven't been used in years
We are so excited to get our garden started the kids wanted to make bird houses to brighten it up a bit until we can get the flowers out there and nature can add some color of its own! Aren't they wonderful! Veronica plans to put in a little dirt and some seeds behind her picket fence, we'll keep you posted on how well that works :)!
I saw the cutest idea on a blog the other day and had to try it for myself! JoAnns had scrapbook paper on sale for 5/$1 so if it didn't work, I didn't loose a whole lot! I went scavenging through my unpacked boxes of picture frames and got to work! Here is my end result! I also made one out of Christmas paper that I have tucked behind the one I will use during the rest of the year!
The kids and I have been thrifty, crafty fools this winter! Since we are on the crafting topic, here's one we did a few weeks ago when we decided to re-vamp our 'company' bathroom! For under $50 (for everything) here's what we did! My thriftiest girlfriend found me this great chair for $3 while thrift saling! A little putty, a little sanding, a white towel to re-fabric the seat cushion and some cabinet/trim paint and I love our end result! The kids took some canvas pictures that were in the garage sale box and re-made them into a fabulous creation using the paint we used for the chair, some medicine cups, white paint and glitter glue! We took some old candle jars and filled them with food coloring in bubble bath, some bath salts, a candle and some blue fruit loops (we're still teaching the little guy to aim)! We filled a basket we already had with travel soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. and put it on the rail under the chair, now the only thing I have left to find is a great deal on a galvanized beverage bucket to put on the chair to put towels in so company doesn't have to go under the sink in search of a bath towel! It was so fun to do!!!
