Loose Tooth

After getting to bed at 1:15 this morning from a long-over-due girls night, 6:00 came WAY too early for me. I was completely unprepared for the day, not to mention a travel day where I need to pack 4 people to get out of town in a snow storm tonight. As I was getting my son, Max, dressed for the day while he was still asleep (and loving that he still depends on me to do this for him), my growing-up way too fast daughter, Veronica, comes bounding into Max's room, "MOM!!!! My first tooth is loose!" In that instant, Max woke up and didn't need me to help him get dressed and I started bawling.

I am trying to smile and listen to Veronica talk excitedly about how this is FINALLY happening to her. (She cried frequently last year [kindergarten] that everyone else had lost a tooth but her). All I could think about is where that liquid cement got put in the move so I could make that tooth stay in her mouth. Desperately trying to keep that tooth in her mouth, I told her that it wasn't good for it to fall out right away, so she shouldn't play with it, should be careful with what she eats, and when she brushed her teeth this morning, I told her not to brush that tooth so it didn't get any looser. I know I'm a horrible mom for doing this, but I NEED my babies to continue to depend on me, at least for a little longer.
