That darn tooth cost us 23 bucks!

I guess my reaction to my little girl's first loose tooth rubbed off on her a bit. The other night while eating dinner she cut her tongue on her way too loose tooth. I knew it wasn't going to take much for that tooth to fall out. But she said, "Mom, I don't think I'm ready for it to come out."

Fast forward to later that night my husband, Mike, came home from work and made her a bet for $5 that she wouldn't take the tooth out by herself. She told him that just wasn't enough. He attempted a $10 bet and she renegotiated at $20! That's my girl - make every dollar count! Not thinking she would actually do it herself, Mike said it's a deal! Within minutes, that tooth was gone and we were out of cash! We had to scramble to find a few dollars for the "Tooth Fairy" to leave.

Yesterday morning, I decided to ask my kids what they thought the tooth fairy looked like and what they did with all of those teeth. Max said "They build a castle, Mom!" Veronica went a little more in depth on their appearance and what they do! Did you know these facts about the Tooth Fairy?:

  1. There are a whole bunch of them.
  2. Each fairy only goes to 1 house/night.
  3. They are very tiny (think Tinkerbell).
  4. There is a queen that takes care of the baby fairies until they are grown up to be full-blown Tooth Fairies
  5. They save their teeth to build their own houses.
Now most of this makes the most sense to me! Really, how would 1 Tooth Fairy get to every single house? And it makes even more sense that there are many because not every kid gets the same amount for each tooth. I mean, there are probably some value/thrifty fairies (obviously not the one that visited my house, ahem, Michael!) and some not so value/thrifty fairies. I wonder if the fairies pay more for say molars than the little teeth. I mean, it would give more materials for their house or castle building project! I think we are going to look into that a little further, not that I'm ready for loose tooth #2, but my baby and I both survived it!

  1. The imagination is a wonderful thing! I think that sounds like pretty good reasoning... they need teeth to build their castles! I love this and may one day have to pass it on to my little ones! What a tough little gal to yank that tooth out on her own... anything for a bit of shopping cash! Thanks for sharing Amy, I love these (so much more personal than fb)!
